Labor: What We’ve Done for Money

Labor: What We’ve Done for Money, 2013, Participatory Installation, Chicago

Labor: What We’ve Done for Money was produced in conjunction with the group exhibition Sex. Money. Race. Gender. installed at the Columbia College A+D Gallery in June of 2013. For this project I invited all participating artists to either write on the gallery window themselves, or submit to me anonymously, everything they have ever done for money. Requested in the form of specific activities rather than job titles, submissions documented the often invisible labor performed in support of creative practice and exposed the diversity of economies to which we contribute. Also online are additional photos from the installation and opening, and workshops, and the Chicago Reader‘s feature on the show.
